Tandem’s In-Home Caregiving COVID–19 Protocol
Tandem Careplanning is committed to doing everything it can to maintain a safe work environment and limit the possibility of exposing clients and caregivers to COVID-19. According to public health and clinical experts, it is exceptionally important because the elderly and people with serious underlying medical conditions are at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. We are following guidelines and best practices from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and state and local health departments. Tandem is implementing the following policies and procedures to protect and prevent the spread of COVID–19 while providing in-home care:
All Caregivers must self–screen for COVID before each shift by answering the following questions:
- Do you have a fever of 100.4°F or higher?
- Have you had any of the following symptoms in the last 10 days? Fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, headache, muscle pain or body aches, sore throat
- Have you been in close contact with anyone suspected or confirmed to have COVID–19 symptoms in the last 14 days?
- Have you traveled outside the United States in the last 14 days?
If a caregiver answers yes to any of the above questions, they do not report to work, and instead, self-quarantine at home following CDC guidelines. Our Care Team will assist you in finding alternative caregivers, so you’re always covered. We also ask all clients to self–screen using the above criteria to protect all parties.
Personal Protective Equipment
Tandem Careplanning sources Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for our caregivers including masks, gloves, and gowns. PPE is sent directly to our caregivers’ homes, limiting their exposure and allowing them to arrive prepared for each shift.
All Tandem caregivers are required to complete comprehensive Infectious Disease and COVID–19 specific training. This training covers ways to keep our clients safe in various situations, including best practices for the use of Personal Protective Equipment, limiting exposure, and reducing the spread of illnesses.
As we continue to learn more about COVID–19, we will appropriately update and train our clients and caregivers. The safety of our clients and caregivers is our top priority.
